Kepu has taught in primary schools in Tonga in 2000 after completing his diploma of education from the Tonga Institute of Education as well as in high schools since 2003 after completing his Bachelor of Education majoring in Education and Geography. Since 2014, he has been teaching in the RMI-USP Joint Programme. Kepu achieved his postgraduate diploma in climate change in which he studied cultural and natural causes of climate change, effects on people and the environment, and mitigation and adaptation. He also completed the academic requirements for the Certificate IV in Project Management Prac Programme.
